Second Year: Residential Building

For a second year project, myself along with three other students worked as a group to create a seven floor residential block of flats. These ranged from small one bedroom flats too large four bedroom family flats. The ground floor and mezzanine floor are designed as a cafe and shop for residents but also avaliable to the public. Residents also have access to underground parking which is access down the sides of the building.

The buldings flat external wall at the back  is ajoined to an already exsisting building so there was no potential to edit that wall.

The idea of letting in as much natural light as possible was the key factor, however we wanted to allow some kind of shading. By creating the external metal feature which wraps around the building, each flat gets some kind of shading along with adding interest to the atheatics of the building.

The project was split into sections, with each group member focusing on a different aspect of the design. I focused on the flat layouts for each floor and the layouts of each flat, to ensure they were identical on each floor.

Along with this I experimented with creating my own furniture along with taking exsisting furniture from the revit catelogue and editing them.

We experimented with internal and external renders to see how the metal form would affect residents inside the building. We found that the sun coming through the structure created interesting and different shapes in each room.

Third Year: Sustainability

For this third year project, the brief was to design a sustainable hotel and spa in the city centre of Southampton. Myself and my partner for the project started developing intial ideas for the building. Due to the previous success using Revit in the second year, we decided to do our building justice we would use the program again to display the structure and detail in high quality renders. This was the first high quality render we have produced for the project and we hope to produce many more in both night and daylight.
